Book Description:
The first rule of book club: You don’t talk about book club.
Nashville Legends second baseman Gavin Scott’s marriage is in major league trouble. He’s recently discovered a humiliating secret: his wife Thea has always faked the Big O. When he loses his cool at the revelation, it’s the final straw on their already strained relationship. Thea asks for a divorce, and Gavin realizes he’s let his pride and fear get the better of him.
Welcome to the Bromance Book Club.
Distraught and desperate, Gavin finds help from an unlikely source: a secret romance book club made up of Nashville’s top alpha men. With the help of their current read, a steamy Regency titled Courting the Countess, the guys coach Gavin on saving his marriage. But it’ll take a lot more than flowery words and grand gestures for this hapless Romeo to find his inner hero and win back the trust of his wife.
Thoughts:
I’ve seen this all over and have wanted to read it FOREVER, so when a girlfriend read it and enjoyed it, I had to read it too! I can be hit or miss with how much “romance / chick-lit” I read, but holy moly, I freaking loved this book and am now off to read the rest of this series.
The story is about Gavin Scott, a MLB player, and his wife, Thea, who are struggling with their marriage due to their own stubbornness after he discovers he was never able to pleasure his wife. 😬 This book was so much more than I thought it was going to be!!! His friend lets him in on a “secret male romance book club” to help him understand where he needs to step up in his marriage, but it was incredible how well this all worked together for this novel.
Throughout the novel, Thea works on holding true to herself and to stop lying that certain areas of her life were good, while Gavin realizes he took her for granted and stopped showing her how much he appreciated her. I was cheering for them the whole time, but also LOVED how independent and strong Thea was in being able to say what she needed. I also loved how much Gavin wanted to try to show her his love (definitely some love language vibes in this book – which you can tell I am a fan of).
This was a wonderful funny book that covered marriage, dreams, early pregnancy, sacrifice, being true to yourself, admitting your faults, childhood, friendship and love. It was incredible and I absolutely loved it on so many levels!
