Book Description:

We all have a longing to be significant. We want to make a contribution, to be a part of something noble and purposeful. But many people wrongly believe significance is unattainable. They worry that it’s too big for them to achieve. That they have to have an amazing idea, be a certain age, have a lot of money, or be powerful or famous to make a real difference.

The good news is that none of those things is necessary for you to achieve significance and create a lasting legacy. The only thing you need to achieve significance is to be intentional. And to do that, all you need to do is start. You can’t make an impact sitting still and doing nothing. Every major accomplishment that’s ever been achieved started with a first step. Sometimes it’s hard; other times it’s easy, but no matter what, you have to do it if you want to get anywhere in life.

In Intentional Living, John Maxwell will help you take that first step, and the ones that follow, on your personal path through a life that matters.

Thoughts:

Who doesn’t love a book on how to live a more fulfilling, positive and rewarding life?!

John Maxwell is one of the best! I love the way he asks the reader: What’s your story? When you think about life as a series of chapters, it really resonated with this reader!

This book is perfect for anyone looking to be inspired, reminded that it’s never too late to change the course of your life, and that by leading an intentional and positive lifestyle – you have the ability to leave behind a meaningful and purposeful life.

Favorite Quotes:

There are too many wonderful passages in this book, but below are some that stood out the most:

🌼 When you intentionally use your everyday life to bring about positive change in the lives of others, you begin to live a life that matters, (pg 4).

🌼 What needs to change are our hearts. What must transform are our attitudes. What must be purified are our motives. We can’t allow our lives to be all about us. That’s not the way to do some thing that makes a difference. If we want to choose significance, we must put other people first (pg 126).

🌼 People most often regret the chances they failed to take, not the chances they took that failed (pg 246).

There are so many incredible parts to this book – it has quickly jumped to one of my top 5 favorite #personaldevelopment books. I highly recommend this book or the #audiobook (I did both and love that it’s ready by #johnmaxwell).
